Eid Mubarak!

Eid Mubarak!

Wishing all our Muslim henna fans a very Happy Eid and Happy Feasting!:D

Eid-ul-Adha, also called the “Festival/Feast of the Sacrifice” is an important 4 day religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide, marking the completion of Hajj (Pilgrimage) and commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s act of obedience to God, by sacrificing his first born son for God, before God intervened to provide Ibrahim with a ram instead.

To commemorate this day, affluent Muslims around the world sacrifice their best halal domestic animals; usually cows/ goats/ sheep and the meat from the sacrificed animal is then divided into three parts. One part for family, one for relatives an the last part is given to the poor and needy. In these three days, all efforts are made to ensure that no impoverished person is left without an opportunity to partake in the sacrificial meal.

Living in Hong Kong, people don’t really get the real feel of the day of Eid, however as I was recently in Karachi, I managed to see the preparations for Eid in full swing there! I thought I’d share some photos I took with you to give you a better idea of what goes on a month prior to Eid:)
